z88 or z88 aurora

I am implementing a simple link between SideFX Houdini and z88 Aurora - Houdini generates the txt files, executes z88r.exe, and then imports the results back into houdini to be displayed visually. I am therefore not acyually using the aurora gui.

Reading the documentation, it seems that the original z88 is a bit simpler (i.e. easier) than z88 aurora when working without the gui. No need for z88mat, z88manage, z88elp, etc , although Z88I4 is needed instead.

So my question - aside from the gui, what are the main additional features provided z88 aurora?

Dear patrick,

the solver Z88R contains all solver moduls of Z88V13 (Z88F, Z88I1/Z88I2, Z88PAR). In addition to the finite element types of Z88V13, Z88R includes four new element types. These types are shell elements, two volume shells and two conventional shells. Furthermore Z88R provides an automatic, self-searching memory management, while the Z88V13-solvers require manual memory adjustment. Finally the treatment of boundary conditions is parallelized, so that especially calculations with many boundary conditions are faster. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask,

best regards

thanks - I think it is clear that there are many reasons to go with Z88R
