Z88 for Mac Os X - coming soon

I've now compiled Z88 V13.0 with some minor adaptions for Mac OS X 10.5 native and we're are in the testing stage. Looks pretty good.

In some weeks we will release the Mac Z88 assembly.

The Mac assembly will feature - as all Z88 versions - very fast OpenGL graphics, 64 bit support, multi-core support for the direct sparse matrix solver (very fast) and the Z88 commander with online help along with several examples. The commander can launch Safari and TextEdit and other genuine Mac applications, of course.

The Z88 Open Source version without multi-core support with all sources and makefiles will be released, too.

I had z88 installed on my iMac G5 a week ago. The guy who installed it did a great job resolving all the compiling hang ups.

I can get z88comV13 to run! Z88O runs also!

Now I need to learn the program.

I am not able to get the following tutorial 5.1 to run. When I click on the z88NI button, the following error window pops up "Cannot open Z88NI.TXT or Editor!
Check Z88.FCD" What do I do to correct this problem?

Also,
I do not understand what is meant by the following copy commands.

B1_X.DXF → Z88X.DXF input file for CAD converter Z88X
B1_2.TXT → Z88I2.TXT boundary conditions for Cholesky solver Z88F
B1_3.TXT → Z88I3.TXT header parameters for stress processor Z88D

It seems that I am to change the name of the file B1_X.DXF to Z88X.DXF ?

Thank you

Tim

Hello Tim Cordes,

thank you for using the new Z88 for Mac.

Yes, you must rename the files like you guessed it.
Then the converter should find the files and write the
Z88-input. The thing i?m not sure about is if you have set your
editor correctly, because when a file is not present the editor should
open. You should check this.

Thank you all for having made such a powerful FEA application that can run on Mac OS X!

Yes, I think it is the editor that is not being found. Not knowing much about Unix (typical Mac user), can you tell me how to go about linking this?

Here is some of the terminal window text that comes from the Z88FCD button in the commander window.

Hope to get this going soon.

Thanks

Tim
