Z88 walk-through?

Beitrag von ReneK »

Hi all,

could someone show me how to start working with Z88?
I downloaded it out of curiosity and want to see what data it can produce (might me interesting for my brother who is an structural engineer).
I guess there's a demo file included (the BMW piston, right?), but when the Z88 Commander starts up, i'm not sure what to do.

Can someone tell me in steps how to produce some visual output, from the moment i start up the Commander?

Thanks!
goering

Hi,

the best thing you could do is to download the manual (English Downloadsite on www.z88.de) and take a look at example 5.4 Beam in Plane with Beams No. 13. It is a little Example on what to do.
Normally you have to do the following steps:
1 create the Inputfiles
essential: z88i1.txt (structure), z88i2.txt (loads, boundaries), z88i3.txt (parameters)
optional: z88i4.txt (parameters), z88i5.txt (pressureloads)
2 start the solver z88f (Cholesky) or z88i1 and z88i2 (Iterative Solver)
3 start the stresscalculation z88d
4 plot the results with z88p or z88o (OpenGL)
