Can z88 be used for modelling 3 dimensional shell structures (bending and membrane stresses)?

From the manuals, the plate and plane stress elements seem to be 2 dimensional in the X Y plane.

Also, ich nehme an ebenen Spannungszustand bedeutet Flugzeug Belastung bedeutet Null lokale z-Achse Stamm statt Null lokale z-Achse Stress (frei-Stamm).
Also, I presume plane stress means plane strain i.e. zero local z axis strain instead of zero local z axis stress (free strain).

Not yet - but ... our extended research version of Z88 features very good shell elements which may directly imported from CAD systems. At the moment we're running plenty of tests and we'll publish this new Z88Aurora in spring 2010.
