Thanks Martin,
A follow up question: After selecting the nodes where the force is to be applied do I use the total force as the load or do I use the force per node. If the latter, how do determine the number of nodes selected?

Application of force
Hello, I would like to apply a uni-directional force to a round bar at an oblique angle. See attached image. The bar is fixed at one end. The other end is angled at thirty degrees, yet I want the force to be applied in the direction of the arrow. Unless I am mistaken Z88 only applies forces perpendi...

Re: Soem models do not mesh
I understand. Admittedly I have only speed-read it thus far. Thank you for all your help.

Re: Soem models do not mesh
This may seem like a silly question (I am a beginner) what exactly do you mean by stress calculation mode?MNeidnicht hat geschrieben:Are the constraints sufficient? Did you choose a stress-calculation mode?

Re: Soem models do not mesh
Did mesh check. Result:
Still doesn't work though. I select the constraints and load, set the material, solve. Then in postprocessor is says no stresses found.
Obviously if the mesh is fine then its can' t be that...

Re: Soem models do not mesh
I will try checking the mesh. Does it fix the mesh automatically? How do I proceed if there is an error?

Re: A question regarding node picking
Another question: I can select nodes by using LMB and left shift to draw a window. Is there a way to deselect them using the same method?

Re: Soem models do not mesh
Thanks.
Could it be possible that a corrupted file can be imported, meshed but not be able to calculate?

I only just realised that it outputs a log file  Tried another quadratic tetgen and got this report: Opening z88i1.stl. Constructing Delaunay tetrahedralization. Delaunay seconds: 0.359 Creating surface mesh. Jettisoning redundants points. Recovering boundaries. Error: Invalid PLC! Two subface...

Re: Soem models do not mesh
I want to expand a bit on the above post... As a test I modelled a kiddies chair, a tad over a 500mm in height: small.png It is a very simple model. I exported it as step and stl. The step file can be imported into Z88 but cannot be meshed. The netgen mesher calculates for a while and then crashes (...

Soem models do not mesh
I am having trouble meshing some models imported as step. The mesher starts but either crashes (Netgen/Tetgen needs to close) or the 'OK button' window just disappears with no meshing having been done.
Sometimes this happens with stl too.
What could be the reason for this?

model becomes jaggy after meshing
I notice that after meshing a model will lose its visual quality:
Why is this? I assume it won't affect the outcome of the analysis but isn't the re a way to smooth things out?
