Importing of nastran *.bdf file
Hello Aurora team
I have 1 very small bug.
when selecting a nastran file the file extension filter not switchable from *.nas to *.bdf.
i work around by changing *.bdf to *.nas in the windows explorer.
so not a big thing, but something for a new version..
regards,
Frans

Hello aurora team, what is the exact status of the shell elements? i found a easy way to mesh shell elements using gmesh. based on this methode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDIUZluXTko here a picture of my fiddeling around. not checked any results yet, i'm just so happy i got it imported in auror...

Hello Stefan
I would like to make e24 elements from easy *.step files.
just to make a metal box, tube, plate frame and other simple forms with e24 elements.
maybe somebody has a suggestion?
regards Frans

Re: best practice for modeling plate.
hello, I got the meshed beam and instructions from selopez and played a little bit with it. i changed the plate thickness and it gave results which are similair as the results lopez published. also i tried an other load case, beam fixed to one side and a force of 800N on the other end and the result...

Re: best practice for modeling plate.
Hello Selopez, You have done some really good work! With a minimum of elements the results are good enough in my field of work. especially if the models gets bigger its a real advantage. Does the accarancy increase when you try it with more clearer "plate" type of problem", for exampe...

Re: best practice for modeling plate.
Hello Stefan, You understand correctly what i try to simulate. But i want to simulate it with plate/shell elements. The results with the fine mesh are good enough but they need an enormes amount of tetraeder elements. So I try to mesh more intelligent with plate/shell elements because they better re...

Re: best practice for modeling plate.
Hello TAH1712, The problem is a square steal beam 1000x100x25mm supported on both ends and a force of 800N pushing on it in the middle bending it "easy way". support 1 constraint on the edge in xyz, support 2 constraint on xy so it can move sideways(rolling support). force is in the center...

I'm also very happy with the z88 auroro program and the nice help at the forum :D You wrote down exactly my experience with tetrahedrons and classical beam theorie. best practice for modeling plate.
Hello z88 team, I'm interested in the deflection in thin plate caused by a force. I first designed a beam 1000x100x25 and exported as a step file and meshed this with netgen. this model compared with classical hand calculations is not deflecting enough. a finer mesh gives more deflection however sti...
