model becomes jaggy after meshing

I notice that after meshing a model will lose its visual quality:

Why is this? I assume it won't affect the outcome of the analysis but isn't the re a way to smooth things out?

Hi Sebastian,

what you describe is called discretization error. Formerly round components must always be decomposed into triangles, to be computed with terahedrons. To obtain a smoother surface, you should either reduce the maximum element size or use the TetGen mesher. Meanwhile, experience has shown that networks are closer to the original geometry.
