Re: Axisymmetric Simulation Results off by Factor of 50
I used the same BC on both cases: fixed supports and a pressure condition. I am not so sure about the pressure boundary, as it is a 2D case and I can only select nodes. On another forum post I asked about pressure conditions in 2D cases and I also tried applying a distributed force over a line, with...

Axisymmetric Simulation Results off by Factor of 50
I was able to simulate an axisymmetric case and compare it to a full geometry. The stress and displacement distributions agree well, but the magnitudes are off by a factor of 50. Doing the same axisymmetric simulation in ANSYS gave results consistent with the full mesh (done in Z88). This is under A...

Re: Stress Components Visualization
Thanks for looking into that SHautsch. It really would be convenient as we may desire to do further analysis with on a particular stress component. Not only in the visual post-processor, but also as an option in the output data (along with node locations, displacements, etc). But anyway, thank you f...

Re: Stress Components Visualization
Hmm, that is unfortunate. I am going to ask the developers if visualizing stress components is a possible feature for the future. I know there would be some issues with going from different dimensions and coordinate systems, but being able to post-process individual stress components would give a hu...

Re: Axisymmetric Pressure Distribution
Thanks for the help SHautch. This seems to make sense. I have an axisymmetric mesh made of a cylinder with external threads and chamfered edges on the outside. The inside is subject to an internal pressure, and I was thinking to use your N/mm multiplication solution. Since the inside of the cylinder...

Stress Components Visualization
Hello, I was analysing a model and realised I need to get information about the individual stress components in my results. I don't see a way to do this in the current postprocessor, but perhaps I didn't/can't see it. I know Z88Aurors can output the results to file, but going through a text file sen...

Axisymmetric Pressure Distribution
Hello, I am trying to apply a constant pressure condition on the inside of a pressurized cylinder, working with an axisymmetric mesh. I can select the node set on the inside and apply pressure, but I'm not sure what the units should be. I've also tried modelling with a distributed line and surface l...

Re: Plate and Shell elements
Thank you so much! I am new to shell elements and hadn't thought about the degrees of freedom. I was able to fix my program and get the import/conversion working. Thanks for the help.

Re: Plate and Shell elements
So sorry, I pasted the same link twice. Here is the generated Z88 file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cu804k9feb0pymh/z88i.txt?dl=0 I have a small C program (its what I know how to use) program to only keep the element types I want (as this file format exports lines and such). The conventions are those ...

Plate and Shell elements
Hello, First off, thanks very much for the new version of Z88Aurora. I am very intrigued by the possibility of non-linear analysis. I was trying to start using shell and plate elements and was converting a mesh I created in Salome. At first I was having issues with the ordering of points as the face...

Hi ChriDin (and other Z88 users),
It appears I spoke too soon. I did some reformatting of the file and saw there were some inconsistencies. It all works now.
Thanks for your reply!

Solver conversion error
Hello everyone. I am making progress on my work to map a non-uniform temperature boundary condition for steady state thermal simulations thanks to your help. I have converted my mesh from Salome format and tested it works with uniform boundary conditions. I have then formatted the z88sets, z88setsac...

Proper format of thermal BC for z88setsactive.txt
I am writing a script to take a set of temperature measurements in (x,y,z) and map them to the z88sets.txt and z88setsactive.txt files. z88sets.txt is easy with just the node positions and set names. z88setsactive is a little more difficult. From a case I created using Z88AuroraV2b: #NODES CONSTRAIN...
